Wedding Planning Advice Part II

March 1, 2016

Who Doesn’t Love Wedding Planning Advice?

In February of 2015, I got to photograph a ridiculously cool Charleston wedding at the Historic Rice Mill (one of my favorite venues)! Seriously, it was one of those weddings where I wanted to pinch myself the whole time because it was just so amazing. There were shades of purple (my favorite color) in the decor with mixtures of gold tones and pearls throughout. It was beyond gorgeous. The cake alone was a sight to be seen and the fact that Sam (the bride) added a few surprise elements for the groom made it that much more special. You can read my blog post about it here. It’s worth a view. If you’re needing some wedding planning advice what better way to get it then from someone who had such a fabulous wedding and has been through it all?

Some Advice From A Real Bride.

In an effort to help other couples with their Charleston wedding planning, I’ve asked a few of my past brides to share their experiences. Sam was kind enough to write up some of her thoughts on wedding planning based on her recent experiences with it. She had some great things to say. I’ll let her words and wedding photos finish out this post.

Happy Wedding Planning!!

From Sam:

“Love is in the air, congratulations have been made, you find yourself spending more time daydreaming about your big day than being sucked into the world of social media (Which may not be a bad thing.)  As a bride that has been there and done that, there are a few things I would like to share.

Some Eye-Opening Wedding Planning Advice If You Will.

#1 Ready. Set. Go.

You thought your life was busy before the engagement. That was nothing.  How you juggle the many tasks that are to come will either make you or break you. There are going to be appointments after appointments after well you get the idea.  Get the Wunderlist app. and connect it with your prince charming that way once an appointment has been set you both have it in your phones and there are no surprises and everyone is on the same page.

Advice: Stay Calm and Connected

#2 Q&A

There is going to come a time when you feel overwhelmed by the number of questions that everyone keeps asking you and expects you to know ALL the answers. Especially from that crazy aunt that keeps calling. Do you want plum or lilac? Satin or chiffon? Cream or slight cream? Whipped-icing or buttercream? At this point, you will feel completely overwhelmed and ready to throw in the towel.

Advice: Stay Calm and get Buttercream

#3 Roses are Red Violets are Blue

Sometimes you have to take a moment for yourself and smell the roses. This is a happy time, one that you will remember for all of your days. You will want to look back and remember these special moments. One way I like to look back is with a mixed cd (or iPod playlist). I make one whenever I have a vacation coming up or a special event. Music, just like a smell or a sound can trigger a memory, so put together some songs and play them while you make your crafts with your girls from your Pinterest board.

Advice: Stay Calm and Mix It Up

#4 Every Moment Counts

It’s easy to get lost in the details of planning a wedding. Etching out a few minutes before the reception and doing something unique to your relationship makes your day even more special. For us it was taking communion during our ceremony – It was something I will never forget. Though we had our loved ones all there to witness the joining of two families in those minutes it was just us.

Advice: Stay Calm and Treasure The Moments
