First Engagement Session of 2013

March 19, 2013

Well it’s been a while since I last blogged. I really gotta work on that. I have so much to share—but first I want to share what was the best engagement session of 2013. I can say that because it’s the first one. ; ) But seriously, It truly was a blast!! From a car ride around Charleston—a cake shop and a wine and cheese picnic—to a trip to the beach, this engagement session had it all. When I first met Robyn at the Charleston Bridal Show I knew I wanted to work with her. She had a super cute style, a gorgeous smile and a kindness about her that I loved. She contacted me shortly after the show to set up a time to meet over coffee at Kudu, to discuss her’s and Micah’s October wedding. Yes, a meeting over coffee—my favorite type of meeting. After chatting with the two of them it was clear that they were enamored with each other and I was so overjoyed at the opportunity to work with them. Robyn and Micah are Tennessee natives and have known each other since they were 14. So cute! They both ended up in Charleston, SC and have been truly loving it! On the day of their engagement session I got to Robyn’s house a bit early and was able to meet her good friend Heather who was visiting from D.C. Robyn mentioned to me previously that she had a front porch, so we took a few ridiculously cute shots of her and Micah sitting on the porch of this gorgeous old southern home.  After that we took off on an adventure to visit some of the places that meant a lot to Robyn and Micah. It was an adventure indeed… One of the first stops was Sugar Bake shop, where their wedding cake will be made. A cute tiny shop not far from where Robyn lives and boy do they make delicious cakes!! In order to make the photos more fun and believable—because I demand realism—they had to buy a cupcake. It just wouldn’t be right without it. From there we set off to their favorite place to eat,  Dellz Deli. It’s not just their favorite place—it’s the food they’ll be serving to their guests at the wedding. Everything they’ve chosen so far for their wedding is well thought out and personal. I loved every second of their engagement session for that very reason. We also hit up White Point gardens (some of you know it as battery park) to have a picnic—also something they love doing. After that is was time to hit the beach. They wanted their images to represent them and their lives in Charleston—the things they love to do. I think we nailed it.  In Robyn’s words: “You are so talented and truly captured “us.” Thanks to Robyn and Micah for a crazy fun car ride around Charleston to the beach and back—and to Heather for your assistance, and for serving us leftover bread and cheese from the picnic while we drove around. I cannot wait for this October wedding!!
