The Cedar Room

May 24, 2018

Why all the buzz about The Cedar Room weddings?

Incredible local cuisine, a fabulous downtown Charleston location, and a cool, industrial chic vibe… the Cedar Room at the Cigar Factory has it all. It’s one of Charleston’s newest and most stylish wedding venues, recognized by Brides magazine as one of the 10 Hottest New Wedding Venues in 2016, and chosen by The Knot as a Best Pick for 2018.

Fabulous Photos

This gorgeous, open and airy space offers some stunning interiors for your wedding photos. The exposed, white-washed brick and the cool, rough-hewn wood columns make for a striking backdrop, especially when juxtaposed with some glitz and greenery. What’s not to love: magnificent high ceilings, elegant hardwood floors, and seating for up to 300 guests.

Wedding photos are my passion, and I am absolutely obsessed with the Cedar Room’s bright, natural light from those huge floor-to-ceiling windows. Bonus: terrific views of the Cooper River and the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge.

Take advantage of a sunny outdoor locale for your ceremony. You can opt to say your “I Do’s” amid the lush greenery of the Cedar Room’s courtyard; it seats 150 guests.

Trendy Downtown Location

The Cedar Room’s charming vintage style is the real deal: the venue is located in the Cigar Factory, a historic 1881 building. (Yes, it really was once home to the American Cigar Factory, in its heyday rolling out 1.5 million cigars a day!)

Today, the Cigar Factory has been transformed into trendy high-end retail and event space. Right downstairs from the Cedar Room is Mercantile and Mash, a “gourmet food emporium” that has been featured in Bon Appetit, and on Thrillist and other foodie sites.

Your downtown location gives your out-of-town guests their choice of lodging, with a multitude of nearby hotels including the Hyatt, Homewood Suites, and Marriott.

A bonus…rooftop photos!

As if there’s not enough to already love about this 137-year-old building, there’s a special place up on the roof where you can get some spectacular sunset photos! This venue truly has it all!!

Amazing Cuisine

Foodies rejoice! The wonderful Mercantile and Mash just happens to be the Cedar Room’s exclusive caterer and bar service, creating Instagram-worthy cuisine for your festivities.

Expect rave reviews for your wedding fare, courtesy of Executive Chef Tim Morton. His innovative cuisine focuses on fresh and seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.

Choose from Mercantile and Mash’s huge and creative catering menu: passed hors-d’oeuvres, lush displays of fruit, charcuterie, sushi or shellfish. Go all-out Southern style with luscious bites like barbeque, chicken and waffles, and shrimp and grits. Your friends and family will love you when they tuck into some late night truffle fries, milkshake sippers or cinnamon sugar doughnuts.

The Cedar Room’s in-house pastry team can create your custom wedding cake and pastries, or choose to use an outside bakery (adds a cake cutting fee of $2 per person).
