A Happiest of Anniversaries to My Mom and Her Best Friend

September 1, 2015

Life can be funny sometimes. I found myself at the lovely age of somewhere around 32 with a mom that was single and thinking she might be interested in dating again. Talk about role reversal. It’s like I knew immediately how she must have felt the second I started dating or wanted to. I was excited for her and at the same time somewhat fearful, I’ll admit. So I did the only thing I know how to do when things are quite uncertain and that’s pray. There’s always that picture perfect person in our heads that we just know our children (or in this case a parent) has to marry. It could be a laundry list of unrealistic and some realistic things, but in our minds it’s just gotta be that type of person. So I prayed for those exact things on my list.

There was this guy at church that I had always known even before my mom met him who somehow managed to pick up the nickname BubbaDan. Seemed pretty silly for a guy that looked nothing like a Bubba. So we all just think it’s funny that he has that name. He’s super kind, laugh easily and is crazy outgoing. He’s so friendly and outgoing that I think he knows the whole town of Summerville. I often had thoughts of “yeah, someone like him for my mom.” Then the two of them became friends and after a long friendship I thought, wait, maybe he’s the one? I don’t often get too personal on this blog, but let me tell you that when you pray for certain things in a spouse for your mom and all of those things are met in the person she marries you rejoice a lot and then you’re ridiculously thankful!

These two are truly best friends. They live life to the fullest—sometimes to a fault—and they certainly have way too much fun. They love each other greatly and love others even more! I’ve never known a couple that just dances any time they hear music and really they do not seem to care who is watching. They ARE perfect for each other. When they were dating I found myself staying at my mom’s house one night and I had gone to bed early cause that’s what adults do right? Well they were out at a concert and wouldn’t be coming back in until late. Yes, there’s that role reversal again. But seriously, I couldn’t be happier for the two of them and I had the pleasure of not only walking my mom down the aisle and handing her over to this spectacular person, but I got to photograph it all too—and maybe I did a few other things here and there. (Okay, we all know I can’t walk down an aisle and take photos at the same time) The lovely and super talented Bridgit McBee of McBee Photography helped me capture the day. What a blessing it was to have her there! She rocks!

Mom and Dan had a wonderful beach themed wedding at their favorite golfing and shagging spot surrounded by some friends and family. Lots of dancing, laughter and a few tears were shared by all. It was a day to remember for sure!

Since I might could just ramble on and on about this wedding and these two fine people, I’ll stop and let you see the photos from that day.

HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY YOU TWO CRAZY KIDS!!

I LOVE YOU TOO MUCH!

(They did a “First Look” cause they’re awesome to do. )
