It is widely known that every photographer has their own style—but what is also true (but lesser known) is that every photographer has an experience that you are also purchasing. Investing in people is important to me, and I strive to provide them with unexpected moments of peace in the midst of craziness of wedding planning while also encouraging them to slow down long enough to take it all in and make memories along the way.
Here is what past bride Meg had to say:
“From the moment I saw Jeanne’s work, I knew that this was the woman I wanted to photograph our Pavilion at Pepper Plantation wedding. The quality of her photos is outstanding and never ceases to impress me. Jeanne is extraordinarily easygoing and adventurous, which makes for unique and relaxed sessions. She is extremely personable and approachable and is very easy to work with regarding scheduling. Since I was in Georgia for the summer (up until a week before the wedding), Jeanne made sure that everything was taken care of regarding contacting and booking the Palmer House for my bridal shoot. She introduced my husband and myself to the idea of a “first look” which we do not regret in the slightest; so much pressure was relieved when we were able to see each other beforehand as well as get family and bridal party photos out of the way so that the guests were not waiting around for an hour.
Jeanne makes her work art, and she’s a master when it comes to her craft. If you are seeking a photographer in the Lowcountry, I highly suggest Jeanne Mitchum Photography. My husband and I would not have wanted anybody other than her to capture our wedding day.”

I approach photo shoots in the same way that I see music. Good music is timeless and pulls at your emotions and feelings. The same holds true with photography. A good photograph will move you and make you feel something each time you look at it, just like you can hear something new or hear the same thing differently every time you listen to a song. My goal with every wedding I shoot is to capture the individuality of each couple and their wedding. Every wedding is unique and I hope to be able to retell the story of that day from the way that it was photographed through the editing process. It’s all important.
When you book me as your photographer you’re not just booking someone that will show up on that day, take photos, and hand over the images. You’re booking someone that truly cares about you as a couple. It is my hope and prayer that your wedding day goes just as you envisioned it would. I’m here to help along the way with any questions or concerns. In my years of photographing weddings in Charleston I have certainly learned a lot about them….there’s always more to learn but I am happy to help with just about anything. A vendor reccomendation, a meeting over coffee to just vent…wedding planning can be taxing and if I can help ease some of that I’ll try my best.
If I sound like someone you might be interested in partnering with, please contact me. I love meeting new people, learning about their story, and talking about photography.
