The Charleston Bridal show

January 16, 2014

This past weekend was a busy one! The chores leading up to the Charleston bridal show started earlier in the week with a staining job on the fabulous walls a good friend of mine built for me. After staining one of three flats I was left thinking what in the world have I gotten myself into?? It was definitely a big job, but well worth it in the end. Around September of last year I was contemplating changing the entire look of my booth. I came to the conclusion that what I had been doing was working quite well, so why change it? Instead I decided to re-vamp it a little. Instead of painting it black I stained it with black and instead of three open walls made of just frames, the back would be a solid wall made of three flats. The black stain actually gave the wood a rustic older look which is exactly what I was going for. Because of that look I decided to throw in a few more props to make it have sort of antique store kinda vibe. I personally love walking into antique stores and browsing through all the eclectic things they have for sale. This was sort of my inspiration for my booth—random old furniture and props are kinda my “thing.”  Saturday morning was met with some serious wind and a bit of rain. This was perfect weather (that’s sarcasm) for hauling all this stuff downtown to be set up at the Marriott. Luckily the rain held off enough to get everything inside. I have the most amazing friends and family that helped me setup Saturday and tear down on Sunday. They truly are the best. There’s not enough money or food in the world to repay them and I’m super grateful for their time and muscles.

For this year’s bridal show I decided to do the same giveaway as I did back in August. One lucky couple is going to win an 8 hour wedding package from me and a floral package from the lovely ladies at Blue Planet Green Events. You can read about that giveaway here. Blue Planet Green Events was kind enough to lend me some awesome lanterns to hang in my booth as well as a gorgeous bridal bouquet to display. Thanks to them for helping me make my booth look complete. As part of the bridal show I also had a special discounted price for anyone that attended the show and I decided to do a drawing for $500 off that price. I’ll announce that winner at the bottom of this blog.  Sunday was a fantastic day for a bridal show. The doors opened a little before 12 and the brides started filling up the space. We stayed pretty busy until about 3pm and boy was it busy! I don’t think Lori (my partner in crime) nor I talked to each other for an entire hour straight because there were so many people in my booth. It was a madhouse and it was so much fun! I really enjoyed meeting so many new people and look forward to photographing some of those new faces.

Here’s a look at my booth. (Oh and yes, I had those delicious Oreo truffles again.)

…and the winner of the $500 off my bridal show special is Lauren Nantista!! Lauren, if you’re out there shoot me a message. Jeanne@jeannemitchum.com
